Home visits are performed by clinicians at the Practice were deemed appropriate for patients who are unable to attend the surgery.
Please ring 01775 715 999 where possible before 10.30 am.
The Receptionist taking your call will ask you several questions; this will help the Clinician decide the urgency of the problem and plan the visits for the day. The Clinician will assess your request, and usually ring you back before agreeing that a home visit is necessary.
Non-urgent advice: Please Note
The clinician who attends a home visit may not be your usual Doctor due to area and workload, and depending on the problem you are requesting a home visit for, may not be the same day.
If you are considering calling to request a home visit after 11am, please consider whether the request can wait until the following day.
Any requests made after 11am will be dealt with by an appropriate clinician to discuss the options available. These options maybe via telephone consultation, a home visit the next day, or a consultation at the surgery.
Home visits are not normally appropriate for children that can be brought to the surgery by a parent, relative, or guardian.
Bringing a child or baby with a temperature out of the home will not usually make them feel any worse, and all patients can be assessed more comprehensively at the surgery than at home.
Lack of Transport/Funds
It is not the Practice’s responsibility to arrange or pay for transport to the surgery, however it is possible to arrange discounted travel to the surgery with our voluntary car scheme, please speak to reception for details.
Lack of immediate funds to obtain transport to attend the surgery does not mean a home visit is appropriate; if you are unable to fund a journey to the surgery, consider whether a friend, family member, or neighbour could help you to get to the surgery.
The Doctor can see at least 4 patients in the time it takes to do one home visit.
