NOTICE FOR
PATIENTS ASKING TO BE SEEN ON THE
DAY
A new system has been developed for
patients who telephone for an
appointment on that day and we are
confident that this will enhance our
service to you by ensuring the best
possible response to your needs.
When you ring to request an
appointment, your details will be
taken as usual by a Receptionist and
passed to the Duty Telephone Triage
Nurse. You will be informed that the
Nurse will return your telephone
call and this will be carried out in
strict rotation. We aim to return
all calls within one hour.
When the Triage Nurse returns your
call, an assessment will be made
regarding your situation. You will
then receive one of the following:
- Telephone
advice and treatment if
appropriate
- An
appointment with a Triage
Nurse on the day
- An
appointment with the
emergency Doctor on the day
- An
appointment with a Dr in
2-3days
- An
appointment with a Triage
Nurse in the next week for
routine assessment/treatment
The aim of
using this system is to
ensure all patients needing
to be seen on the day have
access to a health care
professional on that day.
Patients may still book
appointments directly with
their own Doctor for next
available routine
appointment.
Our aim is to respond to the
changing needs of our
registered patients and to
ensure that all requests are
dealt with safely and
promptly.
